WHY ARE WE SELLING TAPES THAT ARE NOT LIKELY TO WORK WITHOUT BEING SERVICED?

WELL.... CONVENTIONALLY WE HAVE OPENED NEW TAPES, REPLACED PADS WHERE NECESSARY AND THE SENSOR FOIL/ SPLICES, JUST LIKE WE DO WITH OUR USED TAPE. HOWEVER, IT HAS COME TO OUR ATTENTION THAT SOME COLLECTORS ARE WANTING THEM STILL SEALED, IF THIS IS POSSIBLE, AND PREFER TO DO THE REPAIRS THEMSELVES.

SINCE THESE ARE NEW UNSEALED TAPES, THERE IS NO WAY TO CONFIRM THE PAD TYPE OR CONDITION OF THE SENSOR FOIL. THE TABLE BELOW IS BASED ON OUR KNOWLEDGE OF TAPE TYPES AND WHAT THEY ARE LIKELY TO BE. SINCE MANY OF THESE TAPES CAN BE 30 YEARS OLD OR MORE, ALTHOUGH SEALED, THEY ARE SOLD "AS IS". BY PURCHASING THEM, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE PADS AND FOIL ARE 99.99% LIKELY TO NEED REPLACEMENT BEFORE USE. THIS IS THE PURCHASER'S RESPONSIBILITY.

Pads and the program change splices are checked or replaced as necessary. Most using the 8 Track format understand the problems associated with these pads, sensor foils and of course the very age of all of these tapes. Although we play test our stock, it is still possible to have a splice failure. We do sell our tapes in good faith that they are in the condition stated, and that they are playable. All tapes are sold "As Is"

Remember it is important to keep your machine, especially the capstan and heads, clean. A sticky capstan can grab the tape from the cartridge and destroy it.
