The Jimi Hendrix Experience : Electric Ladyland A1 / A2 / B2 / B2 1972 Track Record Pressing
This early repressing from '72 plays to an incredible standard with no actual interference - no ticks, clicks or pops and no static either. The sonic quality is stunning and the classics 'Voodoo Chile' and '1983... A Merman I Should Be' are prime examples of that. They play 'as new' no exaggeration, the clarity and depth of sound is phenomenal. Only a small number of tracks fall below a Mint- grade and that is because there is little 'muddiness' / distortion but that is inescapable as any Hendrix connoisseur will tell you, it is always there. It is also the 'cleanest' example I have ever seen and I've seen a few! The vinyls are pristine without a single mark and again 'as new' is a fair description. They have both been beautifully preserved and have barely any spindle wear. They can only have been played a handful of times at most, still a small amount of vinyl 'flecking' around the spindle holes!
The iconic cover is also very probably the best I have seen. For once it has no bending or creasing and has retained its original shape and structure perfectly. The only real wear is a little laminate 'cracking' on the inner spine as is common. The original inner sleeves also remain in excellent condition.
This pressing has no inverted catalogue number on the labels and 'Two Record Set' is printed on each label. The fully laminated cover is still a 'first press' type one with small images of Mitchell and Reding on the inside.

Visual description
As stated the vinyls are the best examples I have ever seen! They have an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. They are so clean you would not be disappointed if you had just walked out of a record shop with them brand new! Even when I look under a bright light I cannot even locate a single hairline! There is obviously no groove wear or 'bag rash' and the Track Record labels are also in beautiful condition with no marking or writing and hardly any spindle wear. There is still a little vinyl flecking around the spindle holes. Stunning in every way!
Play grading
The intro on 'And The Gods Made Love' plays with a clarity like I have never heard before! The only background is one minor static just before the swirling tape loops come in. This section then plays with incredible depth and no intrusion whatsoever. As it descends into silence there is not so much as a dust tick and this is easily a Mint- start to the album.
The Grandfather clock intro on 'Electric Ladyland' plays to perfection and the opening vocal section is equal to that. The mid instrumental from Hendrix has no background and the rest of the track including the fade out is just as clean. This is a Mint version in every way.
'Cross Town Traffic' then plays with phenomenal sonic quality from start to finish. In all honesty I do not think I have heard a version as clean and precise as this one. The power and definition of the audio is so impressive and the clarity 'as new' no exaggeration. Another perfect fade out also. Mint with a capital M!
The segue into 'Voodoo Chile' is flawless. The 'clapping audience' has no background and there is only one quiet static as Hendrix 'introduces' this classic. The following instrumental plays with sublime clarity, depth and warmth and the opening vocal section is of the same high end standard. It continues in the same precise way - I'm up to 5 minutes now and aside from that one minor static there has been no background, the clarity of sound is incredible. The combined section of Hendrix and Winwood kind of sparring against each other lasts for approx 3 minutes and the sonic quality is out of this world - no background and no distortion either. The next vocal is faultless as is the next instrumental. The section where Mitchell is in command is STUNNING and it builds with impeccable power and clarity once more. It continues in the same precise way and the instrumental towards the end builds in spectacular fashion without any distortion and the final 'crescendo' is just as strong. Wow just wow! The 'audience' close this classic with perfect clarity once more and I have no hesitation in grading it as Mint- which is quite impressive for a near 15 minute track which is now 53 years old! Many would say Mint is fair even with that one quiet static near the beginning!

A change in tone with Redding's 'Little Miss Strange' and it plays with stunning quality from the very first note. The acoustic intro is perfect and the opening vocal is just as clean. S2 often has a 'muddy' type sound quality but that is hardly in evidence here and the mid instrumental is a prime example of that. It plays so well with nothing 'getting in the way' aside from a minimal amount of 'muddiness' during the final guitar section but it is very minimal I hasten to add. The final vocal has no intrusion and Near Mint is well deserved.
'Long Hot Summer Night' has a couple of barely audible statics during the first vocal but otherwise plays with real precision and grades as Mint-
'Come On' plays with stunning quality through every section and again I am so impressed by the 'levels' here. It plays with superb separation i.e. each note so clean and precise and there is literally none of that 'muddy' sound. Mint
The percussive intro on 'Gipsy Eyes' is faultless and it then plays very clearly but with not that same clarity of sound as the preceding tracks. It's a common feature with this track and I'm sure it's down to the way it was recorded / produced and in a sense should not be downgraded as a result. There are no ticks, clicks, pops or static so I will say Near Mint
The wah wah intro on 'The Burning Of The Midnight Lamp' plays with exceptional clarity and what you notice here is that the vocal sections are not quite as clear as the instrumental passages. Do not be put off! I am just being 100% honest because the sonic quality is always like this on this track. I have sold about 15-20 of these down the years so I feel I am qualified in this area! This time I will grade as Ex+ and it remains an excellent listen.

The entire intro on 'Rainy Day, Dream Away' plays with great clarity and the vocal section has zero intrusion also. To the end it plays with flawless precision and the long vocal fade out has not one dust tick let alone anything else. Mint
The intro and opening vocal section on the classic '1983... (A Merman I should Be)' play with unrivalled quality and I cannot overstate just how clean and succinct the audio is. As the pace drops into the almost spoken section the clarity is exceptional and the psychedelic section then plays with a clarity and warmth that is breath-taking on every level. The introduction is so quiet and yet it has CD like clean, clinical quality but with the warmth and depth you only find on vinyl. In other words literally no background, the playback is incredible! It continues in exactly the same way, every note just perfect and you really notice that with Mitchell's percussion. As the pace increases there is not drop in quality and Redding's bass section is equally as impressive. Seriously I cannot believe what I am listening to, it plays 'as new' without a doubt, like it has never been played before. The powerful section towards the end plays with impeccable power and definition and the Hendrix's final vocal plays to perfection as does the end guitar sequence. This is the most 'complete' version I have heard in many a year and it unequivocally grades as Mint through every perfect section. Stunning guitar work throughout of course but then that's a given.
'Moon, Turn The Tides...' is just as impressive and that in itself is a rarity. So often there is a little static but again it sounds like it has never been played before. Mint

'Still Raining, Still Dreaming' keeps up the good work and plays with tremendous quality from start to finish. Perhaps an almost imperceptible amount of distortion but it does play with great clarity. As Redding's bass frequently comes in the sonic quality is so strong and Near Mint is about right.
'House Burning Down' is another track that perhaps wasn't recorded in the 'best' way possible. It generally plays with a slightly distorted 'muddy' sound and this is no exception. However, it is still one of the strongest versions I have heard and there is no other intrusion on the audio. A powerful number that grades as Near Mint
No such issue with the all time classic 'All Along The Watchtower' which, on a clean vinyl, always plays with phenomenal sonic quality. The audio is deep, rich and powerful and there is no interference. It is Mint all the way. Best cover ever? I think so!
The intro on 'Voodoo Chile (Slight return)' has no background and as the volume picks up the playback is so strong. The opening vocal is equal to that - if there is any inner groove distortion it really is so so minimal. The following section kind of fades out very briefly a couple of times but I'm sure that was intended. From then on it plays with such power and depth and there are no negatives. It's more Hendrix at the forefront here and it sounds great! A very impressive Near Mint conclusion to this classic album.
The Gatefold & Inner Sleeves
The laminated cover is in lovely condition and has only the bare minimum of wear. There is just one tiny 'rub' on the top edge of the back cover and the other three edges are in superb shape. The spine has no wear as such, just a crease line running down the centre resulting from where the cover has been opened and all the corners are so clean with barely any wear. The opening edges have no obvious handline wear either, they are so clean. The front cover is close to perfect with only very small laminate crease on the surface and a handful of the usual edge creases next to the spine. The back cover is stunning! The inside of the gatefold is also in great condition with no real marking and only a little fading down the left side of the bottom panel which you can only see when hold it at a certain angle. The laminate on the inner spine is a little 'cracked' here and there but there is certainly no obvious damage. A superb example overall and not far off a Near Mint- grading.
The original Plastic Bags... inners (dated 1072) are in excellent condition with only minimal wear. One has a very small side split and 38 written on the back and the other has a faint mark on the front. Very clean overall.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!
