• Released on the occasion of his 75th birthday, this double-disc retrospective of Austrian singer and songwriter Udo Jrgens is somewhat controversial. Many of the hits are available in more focused versions elsewhere, as are some rarities. The producer's decision to include English-language demos he penned for the likes of Shirley Bassey, Sammy Davis, Jr., Bobby Darin, and others does offer a view of the great writer's diversity, but takes away from a deeper exploration of his own vast catalog. ~ Thom Jurek
