These records come from my personal LP collection and most of the 45's were bought mainly for the collectability and played maybe once or twice if that. Picture Sleeves and LP's without shrink come with poly protector outer sleeve.
Mint… Perfect record, clean gloss, no marks, beautiful in every way. Played once or twice if at all.
NM Near Mint - Very clean, Looks new only a few light marks if any. A great record.
VG+… Used, but not abused. Should play, and look very nice with minimal surface noise.
VG… Still a nice record. Looks a bit used, light scratches, no gouges, still plays well, some surface noise.
G… A bit rough but should play ok. Fills the collection. Has multiple scratches. What a bargain!
P…. Many marks but plays through with various noises.
SEALED: Applies only to sealed records. Naturally, it is assumed that the disc condition would be MINT, but that cannot be guaranteed. There can be production flaws on even these records. These items can only be assured of being sealed but not necessarily "MINT" condition.
I use the VJM grading system for 78 RPM records:
N. As new and unplayed (there are virtually no 78s that can categorically be claimed to be unplayed).
N-. Nearly Mint, but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage.
E+. Plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets.
E. Still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches.
E-. Still shiny but without the lustre of a new record, few light scratches.
V+. An average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced
V. Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.
V-. Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level.
G+. Grey but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Heavy scratches.
G. Quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is still higher than surface noise.
G-. Music still prominent, but wear and scratch damage extensive.
F. Most of music remains audible over surface noise, but listening now uncomfortable.
P. Unplayable.
Grading Standards for EP’s LP’s CD’s and 45’s
Because record grading is subjective, I feel it's important to address how conservatively I grade in the description of a records and their covers/sleeves condition. I do my best to accurately describe each item. Sometimes things get by me, but I will make every attempt to make you happy with your purchase.
Records have always been stored upright in a dry/smoke free home.
Bid with confidence, I pack well using record mailers and ship fast! I can usually add 1 or 2 records without raising the shipping price which includes the mailer.
When an item is play graded please understand that my turntable and cartridge are Technics SL 1200 M71 anniversary edition with an Ortofon concorde cartridge of some kind. The stylus is replaced every 6 months and the cartridge every 5 - 6 years.
