Beautiful 1985 Japanese 6 LP Box Set With 68 Page Lyric Booklet.
Absolutely the holy grail if you are a fan of one of the greatest pop/jazz vocalists of the 20th century! There is no other set like this, never available in the US. Don't forget the incredible standards of the beautiful Japanese pressings! With booklet.
Condition: Box is in fine condition. Sides are rigid and corners are sharp. There are two imperfections on the back on the box on songs listed on disc 4 (see scan). Records are like new and play beautifully. Booklet looks to have some kind of liquid stain on the top and bottom that extends through six pages. It's not horrible... but noticeable (see scan). Last page of booklet is folded.

Review: Silky and full-bodied, Sarah Vaughan's voice is nothing less than a national treasure. It's perhaps nowhere better displayed than in these recordings she made in the mid 1950s for Mercury Records.
Sarah Vaughan is one of a handful of jazz vocalists (Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme) who is familiar to the general public but remains true to the jazz spirit. Although her tenure at Mercury/Emarcy was marred by too much pop and too little jazz, this first volume is a winner. It collects some of the most swinging Vaughn committed to vinyl as well as some of her most tender and touching performances. It's a must-buy for jazz aficiandos or just plain music lovers.
