Here’s a possibly unique and important private 78rpm record of the renowned German author Thomas Mann (1975-1855) - Death In Venice, Buddenbrooks, Joseph And His Brothers, etc. Recorded in London in 1948 by private recording studio Gui de Buire Ltd. of of New Bond Street, Mann speaks in German on one side, and English on the other, about The Crusade For World Government and its aims. This was an international movement organised after WW2 to press for world government, including in its founders Albert Einstein, John Steinbeck, Albrt Camus, Lord Beveridge creator of the NHS, Yehudi Menuhin and many other notable figures from the arts, politics and science. To the best of my knowledge there are no other known copies!
The record is a 12” aluminium-base acetate disc.
CONDITION: E-, some light edge crazing commonly found on old acetate discs and a couple of light scuffs.
