DUEL IN THE SUN ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK
T his original 78 rpm set studio track of the score on four RCA Victor Red Seal records (RCA DM-1083, Mono [1948]) has a very attractive cover and a beautiful 10 page color booklet insert. The recording is by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston ‘Pops” Orchestra.
The cover featuring Gregory Peck, Jennifer Jones and Joseph Cotten, at a casual glance appears to be centered on a cloudy background, until you realize that it is actually a kissing scene between Jones and Peck. The film was beautifully shot in glorious Technicolor and revolves around a love triangle between the three stars with death scenes you have to see to believe. Originally nicknamed “Lust in the Dust.” A nice collectible.
In the later era, this Fiedler version re-recorded many times in various “westerns” music compilations. But Fiedler had the best version.
