BRIAN ENO/PETER SCHMIDT RARE LITHOGRAPH TAKING TIGER MOUNTAIN (BY STRATEGY)
On Offer :-

an original lithograph by the artist PETER SCHMIDT (1930 - 1980) in collaboration with BRIAN ENO,
for the 1974 album TAKING TIGER MOUNTAIN (BY STRATEGY.)

In 1974, Peter Schmidt created 1500 silk screen portraits of Brian Eno, each one differing slightly.
Four were used for the cover of Eno's album, Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy), while the rest were sold as limited edition prints.
The V&A hold one of the edition (609/1500) in their collection.
--------------------------
Schmidt had met Brian Eno when lecturing at Ipswich Art School in the late 1960s.
They collaborated later in publishing the Oblique Strategies cards, a set of cards containing cryptic remarks,
used to break a deadlock or dilemma situation. Eno used these cards during the recording of the Taking Tiger Mountain album.
---------------------------

I`ve owned this from new , a limited number of the edition were originally offered in sets of 3 via the Eno fan club.

Description :-

Height: 64 cm, Width: 44 cm

Colour choice is from the reds section , similar to one selected for the inside gatefold album cover itself.

The colours are strong/unfaded having been displayed, initially for 6 years, away from sunlight and the remaining years having been stored/rolled in a tube.

Condition..........No rips or tears , the lithograph has, at some point, received a little exterior pressure (while rolled) causing a faint line at the right hand side of the print (see detailed photo showing macro images and indicating position on image)
it is only light creasing, but it is slightly visible
and so worth detailing in this description.

Signed in Pencil by Peter Schmidt and numbered 855/1500.

Hard to convey how good the Lithographs look when framed and displayed , a few photos don`t really do the Artwork justice.

will post in double tube tracked/sign for First Class postage, UK mainland ,and by arrangement if outside UK

please be advised, there is no "buy it now" price and the auction will run until finished.

Thanks for looking and Good Luck if you`re bidding
