This cassette tape is one of about a dozen…I’ll let the SR VP of promotions at ZOO Entertainment , Michael Prince, in 1996 tell you. First my note to him.
Hi Michael, I need you to stretch your memory and see if you recall me getting a master dub of Aenima on cassette way pre release? I found a chrome master just labeled in the AEnima logo, Tool and side one and side two. There’s no track listing, just a nice cassette case and the tape. The safety tabs are still in place. I’ve got a Tool fan willing to pay me money if I can come up with an Authenticator. Just a note from the VP promotion would do it if you can recall.

Yes we sent those to about a dozen programmers to get the feedback. Hope that helps. As I remember you loved it and gave us great feedback and lots of airplay.

This cassette is probably the sole survivor of the dozen. I know the other programmers and I’m sure they didn’t hold on to theirs for 30 years.
I was Program Director of 98ROCK, the flame throwing rock station in Tampa, ST Petersburg in the 1990’s. I was rather influential in the radio and music business then as when my station played a new band they generally sold a ton of records. We were heavy into the 1993 Tool release Undertow. My opinion was critical, along with those of a few of my buddies across the country. We made Tool into the success you know today. I hate to part with this momento but I don’t listen to cassettes anymore and I’m sure I’d like to get this treasure into the hands of a Tool fan who’d appreciate it. Is that you? Thanks for your consideration and I’m also listing the original pressing of AEnima on vinyl for the consummate collector. Please check out that separate listing. I’ll answer any questions. I’ll do so in short order.
