Vinyl: The Beatles MONO White Album 1st Press Ultra Low No. 0000059 Complete Very Rare.
This is the Beatles November 1968 mono pressing of the white album. It is fully complete with the black inners and photo spacer, the ultra low serial number is 0000059.
Description of the cover:
A lovely slightly off white example (no early covers were absolutely white), the condition is superb with just a tiny amount of handling wear. The spine is fully readable with no missing laminate, the are no cracks or splits. The fully embossed "The Beatles" is brilliant with no laminate lift. The all important serial number is fully readable. Some numbers appear pale, some much darker, this is mid grey with a small amount of dark colour bleed. The are covers with a shadow effect but this is fine. The numbering system wasn't an exact science! The rear of the cover is also superb, this being an original mono cover omits the stereo designation top right. The inner gatefold is also brilliant, the inner flaps are fully adhered with no damage. There is the smallest amount of wear to top and bottom of the inner spine, please see the pics. There is no writing on the cover whatsoever.
Black inners;
These are in excellent condition with some small amount of creasing. There is a small 10mm split and pin hole at the top left of the rear of one of them. There no edge splits. These inners are so fragile but these have weathered the time well. They have not had a record in them for many years. The records are stored outside of the sleeve in poly lined inners.
Prints:
These are near mint with no pin holes or creases. The rare spacer is present.
Poster:
The 6 panel folded poster is excellent with just some small handling creases. There are no seem splits.
Record labels:
These are superb with no writing, the text is fully readable. These early labels omit "an emi recoding" but do have "sold in the U.K." etc. on them.
Record surfaces:
These are all excellent with a lovely sheen, just some small non feelable handling marks probably caused by an errant fingernail. One is noticeable on side 2 but again non feelable. The all important matrix and stampers are:
Matrix: xex 709-1, 710-1, 711-1, 712-1.
Stampers: AL (T crossed out)3, RM26?, TH3, GGG6.
Audio:
I have just replayed all 4 sides for the 1st time in many years and can report a small amount of static crackle in the run ins/outs and quieter moments, this is not obtrusive though and the sound is very warm exactly like a vinyl record should be. There is the odd pop here and there. There are no jumps or sticks.
A professional clean should improve this no end.
All in all a superb example of the Beatles white album in mono with an extremely low numbered cover.
Please see all the pics as they form part of the description.
