Rare opportunity to buy not only the amazing 1992 album Love Is by Kim Wilde on DCC, digital cassette tape, but also one still sealed in its original factory cellophane wrapping. Released in 1992 by MCA Records.

If you know DCC cassette tapes, Digital Compact Cassette, you’ll know that it was launched around 1991/92 by Philips and was in competition with the Mini Disc, CDs. In 1996 it eventually lost the battle.

Personally I think it’s a far superior format. The sound quality on a good DCC player is amazing and as the tape is kept completely separated from exterior dirt and does not pick up scuffs and scratches that plagued the CD, they play far more reliably than CDs do. There is also no longer the problem first generation cassette tapes had with un spooling and the need for the biro or pencil to wind them back in.

These DCC cassettes came through a friend of a friend in the music business who had a large shipment of DCC tapes (many hundreds) in their original cardboard delivery boxes, that were never delivered to the retail shops and were stored in his house (warm and dry) for over two decades and has recently sold them on to me.

The DCC cassette is totally in mint tip top condition and as you can see still in its cellophane wrapper. Holy grail stuff for vintage music nuts like me!
