Vinyl: VELVET UNDERGROUND Live at Second Fret, Philadelpha 1970 2xLP Ltd Edition LOADED
On May 9, 1970, the Velvet Underground played at the Second Fret in Philadelphia. They were just a few weeks into making the now legendary Loaded album which would be released in November 1970. Bob Kachnycz, a fan, hitchhiked to the venue and recorded the show on reel-to-reel from the crowd. The band was down to a trio that night: Lou Reed, Sterling Morrison, and Doug Yule, alternated between bass and drums to fill in for Moe Tucker, who was pregnant. This show, available for the first time on vinyl, uncovers early performances of several songs destined for the album: “Cool It Down,” “Rock & Roll,” and “New Age."
NEW CONDITION and IN HANDS. Limited to 1,970 copies and available only in the LOADED (FULLY RE-LOADED EDITION) 45th anniversary box set released by Rhino in 2023. 2 LPs in Gatefold Jacket. Though notoriously bootlegged, there has never been an official or retail version available on vinyl before. See tracklist below or reference photos for more specific information, but I am also happy to answer any questions you may have.
