The Chemical Brothers have been gracing the music biz since 1993, and this is a celebration of all their videos and live appearances with 9 interviews thrown in for good measure. So is this worth getting?
Lets start with the 9 videos here, all of excellent productional value. My favourite being Star Guitar, because I have found myself stairing out of train windows and seeing the pilons go past to the beat of the song I was listening to, so when this came out I thought it was geinous! Other classics include the black and while Life Is Sweet, which features The Charlitains frontman Wayne Coyne. Other ones you shouldn't miss include Setting Sun, Block Rockin' Beats and Hey Boy Hey Girl, with it's tale of a girl breaking her arm and seeing skelitons. One thing you will notice is that Tom and Ed seem to be somewhere within their videos, so it's cool to spot them during the vids. These vids are all high class, and are well produced and should keep you entertained.
The next bit is live performances, which range from the Fuji Festivel 2002, Glastonbury 1997 and Red Rocks 1999. These performances are great, and remind you how good they were live. My favourite has to be Temptation / Star Guitar from Japan's Fuji Festival back in 2002. The performance was excellent and the transition from Temptation to Star Guitar is excellent. Everyone's dancing around like crazy, and the light show is perfect.
The next section is interviews, which has 9 of them in total. Everyone from Beth Orton, Norman Cook, Richard Ashcroft, Justin Robertson, Sean Rowley, Bernard Summer, Tim Burges, Noel Galllagher and Wayne Coyne. The Chemical Brothers even have their own interview, which is quite interesting. A good addition to the DVD.
The Private Reel is the last section of this DVD. This is a sort of fly on the wall documentary asking people about The Chemical Brothers in the street and anywhere really. It's very experimental filming and is quite funny.
The DVD also features subtitles in French and Spanish, so it can be followed in those languages. Also this DVD is region 0, so check that your DVD can take it, which by the way, most can. The DVD also contains some strong language so if you are a parent use some discretion on wether you want your children to see this. Otherwise it's just a great DVD with everything you'd want from The Chemical Brothers. Top notch.
