Hello there fellow eBayers. Up for sale is this one of a kind, eight track studio master tape from the now defunct Dimension Recorders of Hollywood featuring blues legend Big Mama Thornton in her recording sessions for her 1971 release entitled " Saved ". The tape is one inch wide format recorded at 15 i.p.s. The two attached session sheets are a puzzle as they list only 6 tracks that were actually released on the LP. These songs include:
(1) Down by the Riverside
(2) Since I Lay My Burden Down
(3) He's Got the Whole World in His Hands
(4) Swing Low, Sweet Chariot
(5) Oh Happy Day
(6) One More River
Also listed is the tune Old Time Religion which didn't make it to the vinyl release. There is the possibility that there was another master tape which included the missing songs. Also, it just may be that the sheets are incomplete or just plain wrong. In any event, this tape would be ideal for any Big Mama Thornton fan out there that has access to an eight track, one inch playback machine with 30 ips capability. This tape is very old so there is no reliable way to ascertain its condition. The tape is being sold " As Is " with no guarantees so there is a definite risk in purchasing it.
