My name is Colleen Cannon, the graphic artist who designed and executed the original Bob Marley & the Wailers 1978 Berkeley Concert Poster at the Greek Theater. Back in those days these posters were printed as lithography in a 3-color process on heavy tan card stock on an offset printing press.

The printer gave printers ‘Proofs’ and a number of original posters to me, before they were posted around town to advertise the concert. The concert was SPECTACULAR, of course. I even got to go backstage and meet Bob Marley!

The printers “Proofs” were the first posters off the printing press as adjustments were made until the desired image was achieved. Therefore there are some printing distortions as shown. The proofs are rare, highly valuable and were never seem in public.

The Bob Marley concert poster has since become a collector’s item and was made famous by Roger Steffens, the Reggae Archivist and former editor of the BEAT magazine when he published his poster, covered in autographs by Bob Marley, the Wailers and other reggae superstars of the day. It is the centerpiece of his World Class Reggae Collection, which was recently sold for an undisclosed amount to be turned into a Museum in Jamaica.
