ORIGINAL 1913 'THE HAWAIIAN QUINTET OF THE BIRD OF PARADISE COMPANY" RCA VICTOR POSTER
This is just a great original piece. I like to buy anything early Hawaii and when I saw this, I knew I had to buy it. I have done what is probably at least a few hours of research on this poster and been unable to find another example of it anywhere. Not even in museums or institutions. This is an incredible 1913 poster advertising for one of the earliest and most important Ukelele and Hawaiian music bands in the history. The band was created around 1910 and was known to play vaudeville shows around the country and became a huge hit in the original show "The Bird of Paradise". They were partly responsible for making the Ukelele an instrument desired all over the world. Poster measures 41 1/2 x 25 1/4 inches. It is in good condition. Unfortunately you can see within the image at the top there is some paper loss down the center fold. Not too bad but it is definitely there. There is also a tear at the seam of that fold and the horizontal field that has been repaired on the back with archival tape. All in all it does not look too bad. The rest of the poster has some minor tears to the edges and the seams but nothing to bad. Poster is actually clean with just some very minor soiling. Really an outstanding example of a super scarce original poster. Literally the only example I have found of this. Do your own research.
