The Beatles : Abbey Road 2/1 2nd Stereo Press (Misaligned Apple)

Many would call this a first pressing as it does have the misaligned apple on the back cover but I will call it a second press as it does have the 'Her Majesty' credit on the S2 label. However, it is still missing from the back cover.

The vast majority plays to a superb standard and S1 in particular is absolutely stunning! S2 just has one short section of interference but otherwise plays with great clarity.

The cover is one of the finest you will see and remains in near perfect condition.

The audio on S1 is Mint- (Track 1 Near Mint- / T2 Near Mint )

Play grading

S1 starts with a near perfect version of 'Come Together' which has just the one static click. The remainder of this classic plays with amazing clarity and depth and no other 'background'. Near Mint- is deserved here. There is no need to individually describe each track as they all play to same immaculate standard. I cannot overstate just how good the sonic quality is here. I have always found the production on this album so impressive and when you find a vinyl as 'clean' as this the clarity and definition of the audio really shine through. I will grade 'Something' as Near Mint as it does have a couple of very gentle ticks but the other tracks plays with outstanding quality and it would be difficult to find a more 'complete' S1. The closing track 'I Want You' plays with sublime precision and the 'heavy' section plays with stunning power and depth and no distortion which makes a change! A fantastic version that easily grades as Mint- what a version!

'Here Comes The Sun' has a very clean intro with only a couple of light static ticks and then plays nigh on perfectly with only a handful of light ticks right at the end. Unfortunately this is due to a small fine scratch and the intro on 'Because' does have about twelve light clicks but from then on there is no other interference. 'You Never Give Me Your Money' has a couple of light ticks on the intro and 'Sun King' has one clicks but apart from that these two tracks play with superb clarity. The trio of songs beginning with 'Mean Mr Mustard' all play with stunning Mint precision and the classic 'Golden Slumbers' also plays with wonderful clarity and only a handful of barely audible dust ticks on the intro. 'Carry That Weight' is of the same standard and the final 'two' tracks do not disappoint either, the clarity is again stunning! The 'dead wax' between the two is so quiet with only a couple of dust ticks and 'Her Majesty' plays with majestic clarity :-) a perfect ending.

Visual grading

The vinyl has a beautiful glossy sheen and only a few very faint sleeve removal hairlines on each side. Only after playing the record can you then find a very faint small scratch on S2 which causes a little interference as detailed below. There is also a very small scuff at the start of S2 but this has no affect on the audio. S1 is as close to perfect as could be and that is reflected in the audio. There is some spindle wear but certainly not an excessive amount and it is clear this record has not been overplayed.

The Cover

The laminated G & L cover is in superb condition with hardly any shelf wear. The edges and thin pinched spine are 'as new' and the corners are also super clean with barely any rubbing. The opening edge has only the bare minimum of handling wear. The front cover has no marking and only a couple of small laminate creases next to John and a few faint creases next to the spine which you so often see. The back cover is even better with only a couple of small creases and one tiny 'rub' near the bottom edge. A fantastic cover and rarely seen as good as this.

The Inner Sleeve
The original plain white die-cut inner sleeve has no marking or side splits and only a minimal amount of light creasing.

The Labels

The Apple labels are in superb condition with no marking or writing and not too much spindle wear.
