It’s Magic (1947-50) / Secret Love (1951-55)
Que Sera Sera (1956-59) / Move Over Darling (1960-67) Ultra-Rare OOP
This is it folks, all 4 Doris Day Collections created by The Bear Family with an assist by the Legend herself. Everything is included here spanning from 1947-1967 on 24 CD’s and 606 tracks if my math is correct. If you are not familiar with The Bear Family, it is a company based in Germany which is noted for selling top-quality all-encompassing CD boxed sets and compilations of rare and hard to find music. Speaking of rare, this auction includes the ultra-rare and out of print 4th Collection in the series “Move Over Darling”. This Collection alone often sells for $1000 or more as it is almost impossible to find in any condition. I literally scoured the globe to find this Set, finally locating one in Australia.
Each Collection in this auction comes in a high quality Collector’s box and includes a LP-sized hardcover book which features behind the scenes photos, stills, and posters from the time period covered by each Collection. The Collection’s themselves contain many rarities, unreleased songs, as well as mono/stereo variations.
Please snap these up quickly before I change my mind and terminate the auction as these are very hard to part with. I am only selling them as I need to pay some unexpected bills.
Condition Info: All hardcover books are in in mint condition. All but one CD case is in like-new condition. All discs are in like-new condition as well and any imperfections to the outer-boxes are noted below and pictured. Additional Condition Info Below, Please Read.
Regarding the track listings in each collection. Please see the picture of the back of the box or look-up the collection online at Discogs. I would have included the info in auction, but there are just too many to list.

(6-CD LP-sized box-set with 92-page hardcover book) In the beginning, there was Doris Day the singer - a terrific singer. This set states the case for Doris Day as a classic vocalist. The songs are great, the arrangements are great, but the singing is something else again! This set covers Doris's earliest Columbia recordings from 1947-1950, including hits like Love Somebody, It's Magic, Again, Let's Take An Old Fashioned Walk, and Bewitched. There are movie songs, as well as some duets with Buddy Clark, Dinah Shore, Frankie Yankovic, and that other Frankie! And there's Doris's jazz soundtrack recordings with Harry James for Young Man With A Horn. As a final bonus, there's a 92-page full-color LP-sized hardcover book.
SECRET LOVE (1951-1955) 5-CD’s including 135 Tracks / BCD-15609 FK
UPC: 4000127157461
Condition Note: Upper left corner of outer box has dent. Please see picture. Set arrived with the corner dinged when I purchased item. As you can see by pictures, the item is still very collectable and still displays well.
'Secret Love'...picks up where 'It's Magic' left off. This deluxe edition includes all of Doris Day's Columbia recordings from 1951 until 1955. Once again, the emphasis is on the classic voice and the terrific songs, which include A Guy Is A Guy, The Deadwood Stage, Sugarbush (with Frankie Laine), Candy Lips (with Johnnie Ray), When I Fall In Love, and, of course, Secret Love. Doris Day's other duet partners include Danny Thomas, Guy Mitchell, Donald O'Connor, and Howard Keel. She's singing with small groups, large groups...she's singing pop songs, movie songs...and much more. This set also includes a 106-page LP-sized hardcover book.
QUE SERA SERA (1956-1959) 5-CD’s including 128 Tracks / BCD-15797 EK
UPC: 790051157975
(5-CD LP-sized box-set with 96-page hardcover book) The third in our Doris Day box-set series profiling her recordings for Columbia Records. By 1956 rock 'n' roll had profoundly changed the popular music scene, but that year Doris Day had the biggest hit of her career, Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera). Throughout the late Fifties she continued her winning ways, working closely with legendary producer Mitch Miller, who in 1958 urged Doris to record Everybody Loves A Lover, another huge commercial success. During this period Doris remained a major motion picture star, and this collection contains selections from such favorite films as 1957's The Pajama Game and Teacher's Pet (1958). By the end of the decade, her work in the classic farce Pillow Talk helped to make her one of the biggest box office attractions in the world. Doris Day, Mitch Miller, and arranger Frank DeVol were all interviewed in the preparation of this comprehensive boxed set. Every note of the wonderful music Miss Day made between 1956 and 1959, has been collected here - altogether 128 songs on 5 CDs. In addition, there's a 96-page LP-sized full-color hardcover book with a biography, discography, and hundreds of rare photos.
MOVE OVER DARLING (1960-1967) **RARE OOP** 8-CD’s & 197 tracks / BCD-15800 HK
UPC: 4000127158000
Condition Note: One CD case out of the four has a small crack in lower left corner. Case still opens and closes. Please see picture. Purchased this set as New from an Australian Seller. Item was so rare, I did not even attempt to return it for such a small imperfection.
The last volume of Doris Day's Bear Family box-sets from Germany--and it's arguably the best with a LP-sized hardcover book of photos that is nearly priceless. The music covers both her final movies and her final years with Columbia, and though that includes a lot of novelty songs, there are classics and gems here as well. Worth-noting: the hard to find "Oo-wee Baby", the amazing "Sorry", "Caprice" and "Rainbow's End", the newly discovered "Let the Little Girl Limbo"(2 versions!), and the complete albums "Love Him!", "The Christmas Album", "Annie Get Your Gun" a tribute to the hit show featuring Robert Goulet, "Latin for Lovers", and "The Love Album" a personal collection of ballads recorded just after DD left Columbia.
