This gorgeous image of a majestic banyan tree fully demonstrates the command that Garcia had over pen and ink drawing. His use of wash technique to illustrate depth and shadow give this piece a lifelike appeal. This print was released in Japan at Toppan Studio, where the image was embossed - giving it an etching-like quality.

This is a limited edition offset lithograph taken from one of Jerry Garcia’s original works of art. Jerry Garcia was the guitar player and founding member for the San Francisco Bay area band The Grateful Dead.

Please note that there are several versions of Jerry Garcia artwork. The most collectable and valuable pieces are the editions printed during Garcia’s lifetime by his publisher. These original prints would have been created at the same time and through the exact same process as those that were hand signed by Jerry.

How can you tell if the print was produced during Jerry’s lifetime?

The numbering and the title will very closely resemble his signed pieces.

There will be an embossed fish symbol on lower right-hand side of the print

If not hand signed, most pieces will have a silk-screened signature (However, etchings will not, and will likely be embossed with Roberta Weir’s mark).

How can you tell if the print was produced after Jerry’s death?

Estate editions were made after Jerry’s death, and contain an embossed image of Jerry’s right hand (missing middle finger). These estate editions may (or may not) show Jerry’s silkscreened signature.

This piece has been certified by The Art Peddler
