Grateful Dead 3 DAT Tapes - Hampton Rhodes, VA 3/27&28/1988

I was a taper back in the day. These are all either copies made in the 1990s of my master cassettes or digital copies of digital masters (if we had digital available to us at the time of the recording). I used three different rigs over the years.

1-a Nak 550 cassette recorder with two Nak 300 mics w/shotguns for L&R and rotating selections for the center blend mic, all spread about 30m feet apart (the 550 had a built in mixer for the 3-mic set up. (most of the 1984 stuff was done this way)

2-The veritable Sony D5 with Nak 300s with the shotguns on.

3-Any digital recorder that I could get my hands on with the Nak 300s and guns.

With all the super high quality stuff being released by the dead today, these recordings are somewhat less relevant that they were once upon a time. But, if you're looking for the real-deal taper-shit, this it it.

I just don't want you to think the scanner ghost is a flaw in the item(s). It also has a habit of leaving dust spots. If you’re curious if it’s spot of dust or not, just send me a question.
