CD: Marcus Miller Tutu Revisited Featuring Christian Scott 2 Cd + 1 Dvd

Nessuno più di lui può mettere le mani su «Tutu». Era il 1986 quando Miles Davis chiamò Miller per dare vita a uno dei tanti suoi capolavori. Il polistrumentista di New York non si lasciò pregare e non solo suonò, ma compose e produsse anche il disco. Dopo cinque lustri, Miller riorganizza in modo sistematico quanto già fatto ascoltare in pillole durante i suoi concerti. Una scaletta arricchita: agli otto brani originali si affiancano In A Sentimental Mood; Perfect Way degli Scritti Politti, impastata con Full Nelson; e So What che prende il timone dall’abbrivio di Human Nature. Scott, al quale è affidato l’ingrato compito di suonare la tromba, non cerca di evocare nessuno, così come l’intero impianto sonoro del disco, grondante groove e soul da ogni linea melodica. Miller è in grande spolvero e anche il giovane Han: prodigioso. Un doppio Cd live e un Dvd suddiviso in due parti: la prima riprende l’intero concerto; Thoughts On Miles è un breve e interessante documentario girato presso la città della musica di Parigi.

No one can get their hands on 'Tutu' more than him. It was 1986 when Miles Davis called Miller to bring one of his many masterpieces to life. The multi-instrumentalist from New York did not let himself be begged and not only played, but also composed and produced the record. After five decades, Miller systematically reorganised what had already been played in bits and pieces during his concerts. The setlist is enriched: the eight original tracks are joined by In A Sentimental Mood; Perfect Way by Scritti Politti, mixed with Full Nelson; and So What, which takes the helm from the Human Nature opening track. Scott, who is entrusted with the thankless task of playing trumpet, doesn't try to evoke anyone, nor does the entire sound system of the record, dripping groove and soul from every melodic line. Miller is in great form and so is young Han: prodigious. A double live CD and a DVD divided into two parts: the first one captures the entire concert; Thoughts On Miles is a short and interesting documentary filmed at the City of Music in Paris.
