You are bidding on an original Queen ticket from their 1982 Hot Space UK Tour. Queen was a British rock band formed in London in 1971. Originally Brian May (guitar) and Tim Staffell (bass) decided to form a band in 1968. Roger Taylor (drums) joined soon after and the band called themselves Smile. When Staffell left the band in 1970, Farrokh Bulsara (lead vocals, piano) joined and they changed their name to Queen. It was at this time that Farrokh became known as Freddie Mercury. The band's line-up was then completed with the addition of John Deacon (bass). Queen enjoyed success in the UK in 1973 with their debut self titled album and its follow up Queen II in 1974. But it was the release of Sheer Heart Attack (1974) and A Night at the Opera (1975) that gained the band international success. The latter featured "Bohemian Rhapsody" which stayed at Number 1 in the UK Singles Chart for 9 weeks. By the early 1980s, Queen was one of the biggest stadium rock bands in the world, and their performance at Live Aid in 1985 is regarded as one of the greatest in rock history. Queen went on their final tour with Freddie Mercury in 1986. Mercury died in 1991 of bronchopneumonia (a complication of AIDS) and Deacon retired in 1997. May and Taylor are still performing as Queen with Adam Lambert on vocals. Queen received the Outstanding Contribution to British Music Award from the British Phonographic Industry in 1990 and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. Each member has composed hit singles, and all four were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003. In 2005, Queen received the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. They were also presented the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. Rolling Stone ranked Queen at number 52 on its list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time", while ranking Mercury the 18th Greatest Singer and May the 26th Greatest Guitarist.
This tour was put on by Queen in support of their tenth studio album Hot Space. This tour was the last to have concerts in North America. The tour ran from 9th April to 3rd November 1982 and visited Europe, North America and Asia. This ticket is from the concert held at the Milton Keynes Bowl in the UK on Saturday 5th June 1982. The ticket is in Excellent Condition with some creases. It measures 4" x 2.5".
