Vinyl: BOB WILLS & HIS TEXAS PLAYBOYS TIFFANY 16 INCH TRANSCRIPTION RECORDS FULL SET
This listing is for BOB WILLS AND THE TEXAS PLAYBOYS TIFFANY TRANSCRIPTION RECORDS the full released set of all 24 records. These were recorded between 1946-1947 and released only to radio stations for air play between 1947-1949. These are the original 16" transcription discs this was the standard for AirPlay at this time they play at 33 1/3 rpm however not on a standard micro groove cartridge but a wider stylus like a 78 but one intended for transcription discs. These are pressed on both black and red vinyl as seen in the pictures. This set I've owned for many years varies in condition from VG+ to VG. There are marks on some of the labels and minor paper loss on a couple. This is primarily from some scuffs from the paper sleeves and these were in AirPlay at a radio station at some point so there is also some wear from being played. There are no skips or jumps in this set that I've enjoyed listening to for many years. Be advised you need a transcription turntable to play these one capable of playing a 16" record. Something else you may be unaware of these were intended for AirPlay they do not track all the way through as they are not LPs. Each individual song needs to be qued up for play as the playing of the material was intended to be shuffled. There were 24 discs released each side of the disc is considered a record so the first record has record 1 on side one and record 2 on side 2 for a total of what they considered 48 records which is actually on 24 discs. Very few of these sets were made and only for AirPlay they are rarely for sale and some of this material still remains unreleased for commercial retail sale. This is the complete set of released recordings with no discs missing a true piece of history here and one of the grails of country music collectible recordings.
