Product Condition: NM/ Near Mint

HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE!

You're bidding on an ORIGINAL, NUMBERED (1 of 1) RCA Living Stereo "Slick" for the LP cover art (FRONT & BACK) of the Classic Records reissue of Sonny Rollins' "Our Man In Jazz".

Size: Front Cover - 14 x 16 inches // Back Cover - 13 x 13 inches

In 1994, when Michael Hobson licensed and reissued 20 titles from RCA's Living Stereo catalog as part of the now legendary Classic RCA Living Stereo Reissue Series, he was also given a very special treat. According to Hobson, "The guys at RCA were downsizing and throwing things things like photos and paper goods out to save space so I asked if I could look through and they said Sure, take whatever you want because what you leave is going in the dumpster. So thats what I did - took as much as I could!" In addition to some beautiful black and white prints, Hobson was able to rescue a trove of LP jacket "slicks" as they are called in the business - the paper cover art that was adhered to the cardboard blanks to produce the original jackets for the RCA Living Stereo series. Hobson recalls: "We used many of the original RCA "slicks" to scan and produce Classic Records authentic paper adhered to cardboard blanks "tip on" jackets." These original "slicks" were file copies used for approval and for ongoing reference at RCA and sat quietly in art file cabinets for over 35 years before Hobson rescued them from the dumpster. It is interesting to note that many of the the slicks could be used for either the mono or stereo releases by virtue of printing the Living Stereo banner and number at the top and the mono catalog number at the bottom. For mono jackets the Living Stereo banner was trimmed off the top and for the stereo release the mono number and part of the art at the bottom was trimmed - quite clever and economical!

These original slicks are now close to 55 years old and are completely unique and as such extremely collectible. Many of the "slicks" saved are for the very rare Decca / RCA titles that Decca recorded and RCA licensed for the Living Stereo catalog in the US including such highly desirable LP's as two Alexander Gibson conducted titles - LSC 2225 "Witches Brew" and LSC 2405 "Sibelius Sym. 5 with the LSO.

Each "slick" is numbered and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity to enhance collectibility and long term value. These, in most cases, "one of a kind" pieces of history are also suitable for framing to be hung and enjoyed! Don't miss this unique opportunity to own a piece of RCA and Classic Records history!

Good luck!
