Tour Program: GENUINE VINTAGE AUTOGRAPHS GERRY & the PACEMAKERS 1964 - CONCERT PROGRAM COVER
This is a cover page of the program sold at each of the 26 dates of the UK tour these artists made in Nov.- Dec. 1964. On the reverse side is a photo of headliners Gerry & the Pacemakers, which has been signed with blue ballpoint pen by each of the four members. Gerry Marsden (vocals, guitar), Les Chadwick (bass), Fred Marsden (drummer) and Les Maguire (piano). They were stars in the Merseybeat scene. Like The Beatles, they were from Liverpool, managed by Brian Epstein (who produced the tour) and recorded by George Martin. They were the first group to have their first 3 singles reach #1 on the UK charts, with " How Do You Do It? ", " I Like It " and " You'll Never Walk Alone ". Later hits were “Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying” and “Ferry Cross the Mersey”.
It’s also signed on the front by Dave Davies of the Kinks who appears to have added “The (star)” under the Kinks name. An interesting note is that playing one or more of these dates, unlisted in the lineup, was David Bowie’s first band,( before he changed his name) - “ Davie Jones and the Manish Boys”
The two signatures over the dark areas of the photo are hard to see,the page shows some handling and a minor crease but is overall, in very good condition.
