Concert Ticket: *RARE* Unused Ticket from Tragic Who Concert in Cincinnati December 3, 1979

Up for bid is an original unused ticket from the December 3, 1979 Who concert at Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati, OH. This is the tragic concert where eleven concertgoers lost their lives being trampled to death by the surging crowd when the doors opened. The concert was billed as festival seating which is basically general admission. Thousands of people, myself included, showed up early to wait in line, and then be one of the first lucky ones in the door to get prime seating on the floor. There were huge crowds of people all standing shoulder to shoulder waiting at every entrance to the coliseum. When the band came out for a late sound check, people thought the concert had started and began pushing towards the doors. When the doors finally opened, there was a mad dash by everyone for the arena floor for the prime viewing location. Unfortunately, eleven Who fans were trampled to death in the chaos that ensued. The doors I was waiting at were not opened at all. The pressure from the surging crowd caused those standing at the front to be pushed so hard that all of the glass at the entrance shattered and I ended up getting in without this ticket being torn.

The ticket has been folded in half for the past 37 years, and because of this, there is a vertical crease in the center of the ticket. Also, on the left side in the SEC LOC area, it reads “10G.A.”, I suppose 10 for $10, and G.A. for general admission, this area was highlighted by a yellow highlighter when I got the ticket sometime before the show.
