Universal Music en collaboration avec The Louis Armstrong Archives, The Louis Armstrong House Museum et Sony-BMG présente " Satchmo, Louis Armstrong - Ambassador of Jazz ", un coffret collector de 10 CD couvrant l'intégralité de la formidable carrière du trompettiste américain. Assemblés dans une mini-valise, réplique de l'étui à trompette d'Armstrong, les disques sont accompagnés de fac-similés de partitions ainsi que d'un livre de 200 pages qui retrace le parcours du génie. Cet ouvrage écrit par Richard Havers est illustré par de nombreuses photos rares. Les CD 1 à 7 sont une rétrospective chronologique de ses enregistrements ; de 1923 avec King Oliver à 1970 lors de sa dernière apparition au Newport Jazz Festival, soit plus de 150 titres issus non seulement des catalogues Universal Music (Gennett, Decca, Verve, Mercury, ABC Paramount, Kapp) mais également Sony-BMG (Vocalion, OKeh, Domino, Columbia, RCA, Victor). Le CD 8 propose pour la première fois dans son intégralité le mythique concert donné par le All Stars d'Armstrong au Hollywood Bowl de Los Angeles en 1956 dans le cadre des JATP de Norman Granz. Le CD 9 comprend 75 minutes d'interview audio conduite en 1965 par Dan Morgenstern. Le CD 10 compile des titres rares et inédits.
