Poster: James Brown Norfolk Arena 1968 Boxing Style Fillmore-Era Concert Poster

The hardest working man in show business brought his talents to the Norfolk Arena in Virginia on October 12th, 1968. Having released two successful albums earlier in the year, Live at the Apollo: Volume II and James Brown: Man to Man, Brown was looking to expand his empire. He bought a number of radio stations in the 1960s, making him one of the best known soul/funk singers of all time.
The poster, measuring 22” x 28 1/4”, is on thick board similar to other boxing style posters. The poster looks to have a little water damage at the bottom, most notable is some waviness in the bottom left corner. The top left corner is worn to the point of being rounded. There are some water marks at the top border from the R to the L of Norfolk. The top right corner is soft. There is a 1/2" tear in the bottom right corner. It also shows some discoloration along the bottom border. And there is a 1 1/2” crease in the bottom left corner. In addition, it shows handling and some gray discoloration (difficult to see in the images). However, the main image and lettering is pretty clean and most of these issues would be minimized if framed.
