BOOKENDS... a dead easy find right?

Nope - a decent copy is way harder to find than you might imagine.<<<

ALL copies are made equal right? Nope - you couldn't be more wrong.

Vinyl (Ex) In marvellous condition and has only seen light careful use. This copy has not been hammered to death like the vast majority of copies out there. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very slight marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of slight deviations. That might not sound all that impressive - but believe me when I say that, on this title, that's a minor miracle. Lush rich clean audio throughout. Apart from being one of the defining albums of the sixties CBS did a fantastic job on the audio. Shame that most folks won't really get hear the full gamut. But on an original 1st copy that plays clean - you can start to witness just how darn good this album was [in all aspects]. All I could detect was one solitary click as 'My Child' closes out. A coupe of static murmurs/ couple of minor ticks as America opens up - it then goes perfectly quiet almost immediately. I cannot over emphasise how getting a copy like this example will make ALL the difference to someone who really counts a title like this as 'an all time classic'. Don't short change yourself - you should be seeking out something a bit special on this one. I couldn't really make out any background at all. Maybe a few minor crackles in that spoken word section at the end of side 1 - but this is pretty much unavoidable. Other than that maybe a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side. Highly accomplished. Very satisfying.

Cover (Vg+) Again, more difficult than you might at first realise to find in decent condition. The front looks clean and devoid of creasing or issues. The rear looks really nice with only slight evidence of ageing - very tidy. Minimal edge wear. The spine is 99% intact - very impressive. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture.

Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. No splits.
