Lange, sehr lange mussten wir darauf warten, doch nun ist sie endlich da: die Vinylbox von The Doors! Ein richtig schweres Ding ist es geworden: ein edel aufgemachter schwarzer Hartkarton-Schuber (in Lederstruktur) mit silberner Aufschrift beherbergt die sieben LPs, jeweils im Originalcover-Reprint. So etwa hat „L.A. Woman“ das berühmte Fenstercover und den abgerundeten Ecken, „Waiting For The Sun“, „The Soft Parade“ und „Morrison Hotel“ sind jeweils als Klappcover ausgeführt. Von dieser tollen Optik beeindruckt, stellt sich natürlich erstmal die Frage, wie gut die Qualität geworden ist. Presstechnisch sind die Amerikaner bekanntermaßen nicht für ihre Perfektion bekannt, doch klanglich wissen die Remasterings zu begeistern! Der Sound ist kräftig und doch detailreich, Bernie Grundman hat zweifellos aus den Original-Analogbändern das Maximale herausgeholt. In einem Fall hat er sogar auch das Monoband verwendet, um den Fans noch etwas Besonderes zu bieten: Das 1967 Debüt-Album „The Doors“ („Break Through“) ist in diesem Boxset nicht nur als Stereofassung, sondern auch in der Mono-Version zu erleben. Erleben ist im Falle dieser tollen Musik das richtige Stichwort! Das, was Jim Morrison, Robby Krieger, John Densmore und Ray Manzarek zwischen den Jahren 1967 und 1971 (also bis zu Morrisons Tod 1971) veröffentlichten, ist schlicht und einfach Rockgeschichte!
