A genuine 1st of the 1st pressings of Burn on the Purple label from 1974. Matrix A1/B1. Stampers 1P/2GT. Etchings - Pecko, Trish, Mel. This info alone infers a genuine 1st issue, but even better both labels state 'Gramophone' in the perimeter text. EMI were right in the middle of redacting the use of 'Gramophone' in 1974 and replacing it with 'EMI'. It is said that as little as 20,000 copies of 'Burn' were pressed with 'Gramophone'. And judging by the stamper numbers you are most probably looking at a copy from within the first 3,000 ever pressed. The Lp comes housed in a genuine original 1st issue cover with album name and catalogue number on the spine and top edge. A genuine rarity and, in reality, it's not often you can actually claim that with a vintage record!
Vinyl (Ex+) Wowzers this is the kind of copy you dream about. Minimal minimal use and you can see that by the lack of spindle trail/wear and those mirror shiny surfaces. Under close inspection I can make out a couple of very light marks, but these are really really superficial. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. The audio comes across with perfect clarity and I mean absolutely crystal clear. We are talking holographic! Not the merest hint of background whatsoever. We didn't detect more than a couple of crackles the entire way through. I shouldn't need to remind anyone that this is, then, a very rare item indeed.
Cover (Vg+) Remains in great condition with some light wear visible, but nothing really unsightly. A bit of ring wear and wear along the edges. The text on the spine is a bit worn so don't expect that to be readable - but not worn through. There are no splits or tears. And overall retains decent rigidity.
The Lp will come housed in an Exstatic inner sleeve.
