Husker Du (Statue Era) First Avenue & 7th St. Entry 1981 Flyer - Orig. Artwork

TWO 100% ORIGINAL PIECES OF ARTWORK - TO CALL THESE RARE IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!
You would be hard-pressed (next to impossible) to find flyers or anything promoting shows this early in the band's career - and these are original artwork!

THESE WERE CREATED & USED TO PRINT SUPER EARLY HUSKER DU HOMETOWN SHOWS IN MINNEAPOLIS
Including the Death Match 2 Show!

Flyer Artwork #1
The first is from 1981 for the Halloween Death Match 2 show with the Hypstrz and features some really cool Grim Reaper themed art.
Condition is excellent-the glue is solid, the 8.5" x 11" thin card stock is strong, and there doesn't seem to be any flaws.
This was a renowned show by the band at Minneapolis's most famous club.

Flyer Artwork #2
The second is from 1980 (wow, incredibly early show!) and was never finished, unfortunately - just a bunch of band logos and the club info glued to a piece of paper.
Condition is also excellent, but the 8.5" x 11" paper has wrinkled a little around the logos from the glue shrinking and is slightly discolored.

These are literally one-of-a-kind pieces. There is not another in the world.
These are the original artwork used to create the HISTORIC show flyers.

100% Original/Authentic Husker Du History!

I have tons more punk and rock flyers and memorabilia - check out my other auctions!

A few words about authenticity...

In 1998 I started becoming obsessed with flyers. Primarily punk flyers but my interest expanded as I got more and more into it.
I fell in love with the history, the artwork, the DIY ethic - and obviously the memories of and connection to the music.

I quickly realized that making "repros" was quite easy and very soon started to thoroughly vet and research every flyer I would buy to make sure that what I was buying was 100% authentic and original.
I never bought a flyer without first connecting with the seller and being 100% sure that what I was buying was the real deal.

It was through this research that I soon discovered (and built relationships with) ex-roadies, ex-bandmates, record label and club owners, memorabilia dealers and auction houses.
I bought a lot of flyers from these folks! I also bought collections from the coolest ex-punks who lived it. The stories/history these folks shared about the shows and scene were as cool and inspiring as the flyers!

In the early days I focused on the late 70's to mid 80's California punk scene, SST acts and the early days of NYC punk - CBGB, Max's Kansas City, etc.
I then discovered the book, "F*ed Up + Photocopied: Instant Art of the Punk Rock Movement", and became even more obsessed and expanded my scope of interest.

Then in the mid-2000's I stopped. Just like Forrest Gump.
I had enough, the really good stuff had been scooped up and was gone and more and more repros were flooding the market.

By then I had also amassed a pretty large collection of posters, records, concert tickets and stubs, programs, vintage ads, zines and mags, stickers, badges, autographs, set-lists, etc and was selling along with buying. I had become a punk rock memorabilia dealer!

That's my story, it's 100% true.
Every flyer I sell has been vetted by me and is 100% original (printed at the time of the show).
If you ever buy a flyer from me and have any doubts about it's authenticity just send it back for a 100% refund - no worries, because I'm confident in it's authenticity and that you will love it.

Thanks for checking out my auctions. Please contact me with any questions you may have ... and if you happen to have been at one of the shows tell me all about it!
