With this tape played on your vintage quad equipment, you will experience stellar quadraphonic effects. Instruments coming from all around you, background vocals coming from behind you, solos firing back and forth between speakers, all sorts of fun stuff. The quad masters were always more full and lively with lots more action and entertainment from the listening experience. In the Quadraphonic heyday of 1970-1976, stereo was a compromise. Modern surround receivers with 5.1 input may be used, all you need is a good working quad 8 track deck. I personally use a top of the line Pioneer THX 94, and there is no need to worry about it not being vintage. Here's your chance to hear a classic seventies album as the engineer intended. Stunning discrete quad separation. Experts all agree, you just can't get the separation from a quad LP that you can get from a tape. Many of these titles were only available on quad 8 track. The quad reels are very good, but very few rock titles were released this way, and those that were command incredibly steep prices on today's resale collector market. Because of this, although stereo 8 tracks were obviously considered low end for conventional stereo reproduction, quadraphonic 8 tracks are accepted as a choice format for 4 channel. These tapes sound mighty good !!! Owned and serviced by me. Old quad tapes have a tendency to drag from sitting unused, and from the pinch roller drying out, causing the tape to slip. I personally restore the rubber on the roller, which allows the tape to play smoothly, with no need for any on the fly tricks to get the tapes to play. It's a little bit of magic I learned. When I say tuned up, every foam pad is new, the splice is reinforced, the sensing foil replaced, on the CBS, Capitol, orange asylum, white Mercury, and blue A&M and GRT styles. I check and adjust the tension as well on the aforementioned styles, as on a few occasions, I have found them to be loose. Not anymore. (Not too tight, either.... JUST RIGHT 😎👍🏻 ). The warners, London, and RCA styles have been left alone, but checked for splice integrity, and felt replaced if necessary. I only found one splice that needed replacing, the Nillson Schmillson. My goal was to have perfectly playing tapes, with the highest fidelity in mind, for transfer to quadraphonic reel to reel, for preservation, and home playback. I just spent Thanksgiving weekend tuning, playing and archiving this collection. Since this mission has been accomplished, my entire quadraphonic 8 track collection is now ready for auction, and to be enjoyed by a new owner. This is a personally curated collection, built over many years, and since I have it on reel now, it's time to pass it on !!!! Super rare and exciting albums to listen to in 4 channel. It's a whole new experience, one that I can guarantee will knock your socks off. I've been fixing and collecting 8 tracks since I was 12, (32 years), so when I say they are ready to go and sound great, I'm not kidding around. These are the wildest, most mind blowing quad titles available, and an opportunity like this to buy a serviced tape played within the last 2 weeks on the right equipment to assess condition, always with a big grin from the amazing effects, is a once in a lifetime chance. Some of these tapes are new, let the pics speak for themselves. The Capitol tapes and the "hidden tang" CBS style unfortunately require a little cosmetic compromise in order to service them properly, but it's a necessity, and worth it in the long run.
