The 1980s was a big decade for the Brat Pack and actors such as Corey Haim and Corey Feldman and a huge eerie blockbuster movie called the Lost Boys released in 1987. Its success truly made way for several hit songs featured on the amazing soundtrack companion LP, which rode the sales and airplay charts with multiple format hit records for over a year, as the album continues to thrill music fans decades later.
The box office hit featured some of the biggest songs of that year with INXS and Jimmy Barnes' hit single Good times as well as nine more champions like The Who's Roger Daltrey's stellar version of Elton John's Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me and the classic techno rock smash Cry Little Sister (Theme From the Lost Boys) by Gerard McMann. Superstars like Echo & The Bunnymen also contributed to the hit soundtrack too with their fine interpretation of The Doors' classic People Are Strange, plus the great Lou Gramm of Foreigner knocks it out of the box with his power smash Lost In the Shadows (The Lost Boys). Through it all The Lost Boys LP will forever be known as one of rock's finest movie and musical soundtracks ever recorded.

"Although it might seem strange (or at least highly ironic) to score a teen comedy about suburban white kids with pseudo-blaxploitation music, expectations were certainly raised when composer Lyle Workman rounded up his band for the project. Among a crew of studio horn and string players was a core band consisting of Bootsy and Catfish Collins, John "Jab'o" Starks Clyde Stubblefield and Bernie Worrell! "All those guys are James Brown and/or Parliament/Funkadelic alumni, so if you thought this was going to be some kind of serious funk throwdown, you'd be right. Well, partially right anyway. Remember, this is music that's supposed to further a story line so while there are some super-funky jams, there are also moments that are more standard soundtrack fare. There are also a handful of songs from Curtis Mayfield, Jean Knight, the Bar-Kays and Rick James that really fit in nicely." — AllMusic Side 1 | 1. Super What? – Lyle Workman | 2. Features Great 1980's Music From The Cars, Dire Straits, Pete Townshend, ZZ Top & More!
The movie contains many more period appropriate songs than could be included on the double LP. However, the Official Soundtrack album does not disappoint with music from Van Halen, Dire Straits, The Cars, Blondie, ZZ Top, Cheap Trick, Hot Chocolate, Pete Townshend and more!
"Richard Linklater cares about the music in his films, with "School Of Rock," "Boyhood," and "Dazed and Confused" in particular showing a strong commitment to a carefully curated soundtrack. But what you might not know is how much of a stickler the director is for ensuring the song choices are not anachronistic — for his movies, or anybody else’s.
""If I know a song came out a year later than the time when a film is set, f— you, you just lost me. You can’t approach a period film saying, ‘Oh, who’s going to care?’ No, no! I’m doing it for that one person who does care. Because they’re out there. I’m that person. If you’re going to be fast and loose with that, I don’t trust you on anything. You at least have to try," he told The Toronto Star. "Even way back when I did ‘Dazed and Confused’ (set in 1976), I was trying to get a Thin Lizzy song for it, ‘The Boys Are Back In Town.’ But that didn’t come out until June 4 and (the movie setting) was May 28! I went, ‘I can’t use it, I can’t use it!’ "
"Well, the director is never short of music he can use, and that’s certainly true for his "Everybody Wants Some!!"" - indiewire

Original Soundtrack to Quentin Tarantino's Oscar Award-Winning Film! American Rock 'N' Roll, Surf Music, Pop, and Soul! Includes Urge Overkill's Cover of Neil Diamond's "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon!"
One of the most defining cinematic moments of the mid 1990s was when the ‘counter-culture’ film Pulp Fiction was released! Pulp Fiction is the killer soundtrack which includes several slabs of vinyl perfection like Kool & The Gang’s dynamite Jungle Boogie, Al Green’s sensual Let’s Stay Together and Dusty Springfield’s gospel-like classic Son Of A Preacher Man.
The film contains a mix of American rock and roll, surf music, pop and soul. The soundtrack is equally untraditional, consisting of nine songs from the movie, four tracks of dialogue snippets followed by a song, and three tracks of dialogue alone. The album reached No. 21 on the Billboard 200 and the single, Urge Overkill's cover of the Neil Diamond song "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon" peaked at No. 59.
Tarantino used an eclectic assortment of songs by various artists. Notable songs include Dick Dale's now-iconic rendition of "Misirlou", which is played during the opening credits. Tarantino chose surf music for the basic score of the film because, "it just seems like rock 'n' roll Ennio Morricone music, rock 'n' roll spaghetti Western music." In addition to the surf-rock rendition of "Misirlou", other notable songs include "Flowers on the Wall" by the Statler Brothers and "Bustin' Surfboards" by The Tornadoes, from 1962, which had been one of the first instrumental surf songs to hit the United States music charts after notables such as "Walk--Don't Run" by the Ventures.
The Orange County Register described why the soundtrack of Pulp Fiction stood out from all the others: "Unlike so many soundtracks, which just seem to be repositories for stray songs by hit acts regardless of whether they fit the film's mood, Tarantino's use of music in Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction exploded with a brash, Technicolor, pop-culture intensity that mirrored the stories he was telling."
"The soundtrack to Quentin Tarantino's darkly funny crime classic Pulp Fiction manages to re-create the film's wildly careening sense of style, violence, and humor by concentrating on the surf music that comprises the bulk of the movie's incidental music and adding a few sexy oldies integral to the film's story ('Let's Stay Together,' 'Son of a Preacher Man,' 'You Never Can Tell'). Of course, the inclusion of dialogue and Urge Overkill's seductive cover of Neil Diamond's 'Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon' doesn't hurt either." - Stephen Thomas Erlewine, allmusic

180g Vinyl Double LP Soundtrack To 2015 Film!
The Hateful Eight is the 8th film by two-time Academy Award winner Quentin Tarantino, and the first time he has made a film with a dedicated score. Who better to help create and coordinate his first dedicated score than the legendary film composer and Academy Award winner, Ennio Morricone? Tarantino has used Morricone pieces in each of his most recent six films, including Django Unchained and Inglorious Basterds. The Hateful Eight marks the first time the two have collaborated throughout the production of the film to create a complete picture: bringing together the sounds, sights, and passionate grit to fabricate a truly well rounded piece of smart art. Morricone started writing music at the age of six and has been composing critically acclaimed film scores since the 1960s when his career was launched after composing the score to The Man with No Name trilogy starring Clint Eastwood. Morricone established himself as the master of spaghetti western scores and later on began working in all genres of film with directors such as Franco Zeffirelli, Federico Felini, Roman Polanski, and Roland Joffe putting him on par with the major composers and establishing him as one of the all-time greats, composing soundtracks for over 400 film and TV projects. He has made his mark on film by blending jazz, folk, blues, funk, and classical music to make for brilliantly simple scores that set him apart from the rest.
In Tarantino's tradition of not confining his soundtrack selections to space or time periods, the soundtrack also features songs from Roy Orbison, David Hess, and The White Stripes to round everything out. Hateful Eight is the most sweeping and narrative soundtrack Tarantino has released yet, and is sure to become a classic.

The Modern Tunes are All Based Around Authentic Jazz Tunes!
Third Man Records is proud to announce the worldwide release of the vinyl version of The Great Gatsby film Soundtrack. Anticipation is already high for this companion piece to Baz Luhrmann's groundbreaking film of the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic. The soundtrack was executive produced by Shawn ''JAY Z" Carter, and produced by the film's co-writer/ producer/ director Luhrmann. It features an all-star line up from Jack White, JAY Z, Florence + The Machine, The xx, Beyoncé x André 3000, The Bryan Ferry Orchestra, will.i.am, Lana Del Rey, Fergie + Q Tip + GoonRock among many more standout contributions.
Drawing on his unique and unrivaled position in popular culture, Jay Z (with collaborator and the film's executive music consultant Jeymes Samuel) worked with Luhrmann and music supervisor Anton Monsted on the Gatsby project over the past two years, translating the Jazz Age sensibility of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel into the musical equivalents of our own times through the blending of hip hop, traditional jazz and other contemporary musical textures.
Penned by Lana Del Rey and the film's director, Baz Luhrmann, the song "Young and Beautiful" was released to contemporary hit radio as a single, and has been used as the film's buzz single. Hip hop magazine Rap-Up called the single "haunting", while MTV called it "somber-sounding". The track performed by Florence and the Machine, "Over the Love", references the "green light" theme from the novel in its lyrics. Chris Payne of Billboard praised Beyoncé and André 3000's cover of "Back to Black", made unique with a downtempo EDM wobble.
An adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's Long Island-set novel, where Midwesterner Nick Carraway is lured into the lavish world of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby. Soon enough, however, Carraway will see through the cracks of Gatsby's nouveau riche existence, where obsession, madness, and tragedy await.
"[O]ne of Luhrmann's main arguments in grounding the film's soundtrack in hip-hop was to tie in thematically with Fitzgerald's own long-discussed fascination with all things modern, new and exciting. After all, if jazz was employed in the original Gatsby as a means to impart the feel of daring, cutting-edge newness, then it makes sense to accent those elements in a modern adaptation through sounds that are daring and cutting edge right now... Part of the genius inherent in Luhrmann and Jay-Z's soundtrack is that the modern tunes are all based around authentic jazz tunes... It also doesn't hurt that Luhrmann and Jay-Z have picked a cadre of artists and from Bryan Ferry, to The xx, to Fergie, to Florence + the Machine, who truly understand their role in the production -- especially in the case of Lana Del Rey, who delivers possibly the best song of her career." - Matt Collar, All Music Guide

THIS AUDIO FIDELITY TITLE IS BRAND NEW BUT DOES NOT COME TRADITIONALLY SEALED WITH TIGHT PLASTIC WRAP. THEY COME WITH A PLASTIC OPEN PROTECTIVE WRAP. Eddie and the Cruisers is a 1983 American film directed by Martin Davidson based on the novel by P.F. Kluge. The story concerns the mysterious death of a fictional '60s rock star. The film received mixed reviews, did not do well at the box office and was pulled from theaters after three weeks.
After successful screenings on HBO in 1984, the album suddenly climbed the charts, going quadruple platinum. Nine months after the film was released in theaters, the main song in the film, "On the Dark Side," was the number one song in the country on Billboard's Mainstream, Rock, and Heatseeker charts; and #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Another single from the film, "Tender Years," peaked at #31 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Cafferty was hired to write a few songs for the film, but he did such a good job of capturing the feeling of the 1960s and 1980s that Davidson asked him to score the entire film. Only Michael "Tunes" Antunes, the tenor saxophone player for the Beaver Brown Band, and Helen Schneider were professional musicians in the cast.
"There was a year's delay before this film, which concerns the mysterious death of a fictional '60s rock star, took off via video and cable TV, but when it did, the soundtrack album, featuring such songs as 'On the Dark Side' and 'Tender Years' by John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band, took off with it..." - William Ruhlmann, allmusic

The first Guardians of the Galaxy film featured a chart-topping, platinum soundtrack album in its Awesome Mix Vol. 1. Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 brings us Awesome Mix Vol. 2, featuring a compilation of memorable tracks from the '60s and '70s which are played within key moments of the film.
"This time, Gunn had a bigger budget, which allowed him to include familiar songs from superstar acts: George Harrison's 'My Sweet Lord,' Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain' (every band member watched the scene that features the song before giving approval) and ELO's 'Mr. Blue Sky' – which scores what Gunn calls 'the most hugely insane shot I've ever done,' early in the film. 'It's the perfect song to start the movie,' says Gunn, 'because it's really joyous, but there's a really dark underpinning to it.'
There are, again, plenty of deep cuts on hand, and Gunn (who once played in a band of his own, the Icons) relished the chance to expose the likes of Jay and the Americans' 'Come a Little Bit Closer' – or a true obscurity like 1976's 'Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang,' by one-hit-wonder Silver – to the Marvel-loving masses. 'One of the most exciting things,' he says, 'was knowing I would be making bands that may have been forgotten suddenly be a topic of conversation.'" - Brian Hiatt, rollingstone

Produced by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, the soundtrack to the film Natural Born Killers (1994) was a downright smash in youngster's music tastes of the era. On his approach to compiling the soundtrack, Reznor told MTV: "I suggested to Oliver [Stone] to try to turn the soundtrack into a collage-of-sound, kind of the way the movie used music: make edits, add dialog, and make it something interesting, rather than a bunch of previously released music."
Some songs were written especially for the film or soundtrack, such as "Burn" by Nine Inch Nails. Other songs featured are by artists like Patti Smith, Cowboy Junkies, Leonard Cohen, Jane's Addiction, Dr. Dre and Juliette Lewis. The album has sold 500,000 copies in the United States, making it a Gold record.
"...the soundtrack to Oliver Stone's brutally warped serial killer saga recreates the hallucinatory feeling of the film. Snatches of dialogue interweave with song fragments and sound effects, creating a harrowing, violent soundscape where Leonard Cohen occasionally offers a relief of sorts. In fact, Reznor managed to convey the insanity of the movie's lead characters much more effectively than Stone did with the film itself." -Stephen Thomas Erlewine, allmusic

The 1975 film starring Jack Nicholson was the second to win all five major Academy Awards including Best Picture, Actor in Lead Role, Actress in Lead Role, Director, and Screenplay. Jack Nitzsche was nominated for an Oscar and a Grammy for his work on the soundtrack for the film.
"A film that helped to cement Jack Nicholson's reputation as an actor willing to take roles on the bleeding edge, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was also notable for giving director Milos Forman a solid position in American cinema...and for giving composer Jack Nitzsche a place to show what he could do. As it is, the edgy nature of the film extends into the score, giving it a profoundly disturbing feel at times -- even when it appears to be relatively normal. The music has a tendency to always be a little off-kilter, and from time to time it tilts completely over into a strange little world of its own (something very familiar to fans of Van Dyke Parks, with whom Nitzsche worked quite a bit)..." - allmusic

To celebrate Clerks' 20th anniversary, the soundtrack will be pressed to vinyl for the first time ever! Clerks is the 1994 soundtrack album to the film of the same name. The original soundtrack's mix of dialogue from the movie (''I'm not even supposed to be here today!'') and tunes by some of the leading groups of the alternative era will now play out across three sides of two LPs - the final side will contain an etching. The soundtrack features songs by Alice in Chains, Girls Against Boys, the Jesus Lizard, Bad Religion, Soul Asylum, Corrosion of Conformity, Stabbing Westward and more. It also features songs by Love Among Freaks, friends of Smith's who visit the convenience store in the movie and who scored the original soundtrack for the movie.
Famously, the cost of licensing the songs on the soundtrack cost more than the film cost to make. The movie helped make Alice in Chains' 1992 Sap EP tune ''Got Me Wrong'' a hit, and the Kevin Smith-directed clip for Soul Asylum's ''Can't Even Tell,'' which closes out the movie, propelled it to Number 16 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart.

Tangerine Dream Thief Soundtrack 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION AUDIOPHILE LPNumbered, Limited Edition! 180g Remastered Virgin Vinyl!
Tangerine Dream is among the most successful electronic groups of all time. The band was chosen by Michael Mann to write and produce the original score for Thief, his 1981 directorial debut.
Tangerine Dream added their patented pulses, blips and whooshes to the film's highly stylized visual scenes. Up to this time, no one had ever used a sequencer for a neo-noir film... this score is one of the most unusual of its kind for American cinema.
Rather than a full orchestral score, Tangerine Dream's techno-based score uses synthesizer, percussion and electric guitar making for a fascinating and exciting soundtrack. Tracks like "Dr. Destructo" have a fast-paced percussion tempo. An engaging melody on "Beach Theme" makes it one of the album's most familiar and popular tracks, while "Trap Feeling" has a delicacy that compares favorably to Brian Eno's Music for Films.
The soundtrack and the movie are inseparable. The music and movie have grown beyond cult classic status becoming an important part of the collection works of Tangerine Dream and Mann.

Emmy Award winning Ramin Djawadi's powerful, pulsating, contemporary score to Marvel's masterpiece Iron Man appears here on black vinyl for the first time. Produced by Hans Zimmer, the album includes the previously unreleased 1960s Iron Man Theme from the animated TV series and a bonus track from California trash giants Suicidal Tendencies.
Blockbuster composer Ramin Djawadi delivers a recognizable and dramatic soundtrack featuring distorted and processed guitars and electronics interweaved with punchy drums and string sections.
Djawadi, a brilliant guitarist and Berklee College of Music graduate, has written scores for Blade: Trinity, Ask the Dust and Open Season. Belonging to the younger generation of up and coming Hollywood Blockbuster composers, Djawadi’s film music career started with his highly successful collaborations with Tinsletown heavyweight Hans Zimmer on Pirates of the Caribbean, Batman Begins, and Thunderbirds. Prince Purple Rain 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION LPRolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time - Rated 76/500!
Mastered from the Original Analog Master Tapes by Kevin Gray at Acoustech Mastering!
Featured in Michael Fremer's Heavy Rotation in the September 2009 Issue of Stereophile!
Prince designed "Purple Rain" as the project that would make him a superstar, and surprisingly, that is exactly what happened. Simultaneously more focused and ambitious than any of his previous records, "Purple Rain" finds Prince consolidating his funk and R&B roots while moving boldly into pop, rock, and heavy metal with nine superbly crafted songs. Although Prince's songwriting is at a peak, the presence of the Revolution pulls the music into sharper focus, giving it a tougher, more aggressive edge. Even with all of his new, but uncompromising, forays into pop Prince hasn't abandoned funk. Taken together, all of the stylistic experiments add up to a stunning statement of purpose that remains one of the most exciting rock & roll albums ever created.
"The blockbuster soundtrack to Prince's semi- autobiographical movie was raunchy enough to inspire Tipper Gore to form the Parents Music Resource Center. It also showcases Prince's abilities as a guitarist, especially on "Let's Go Crazy." The breakthrough hit, "When Doves Cry," has no bass track: Looking for a different sound, Prince removed it, making one more unforgettable single. The title track was inspired by Bob Seger, of all people — when Prince was touring behind 1999 Seger was playing many of the same markets. Prince didn't understand his appeal but decided to try writing a crossover hit, a ballad in the Seger mode." - .rollingstone

An important score in Elfman's canon, "Scrooged" was the composer's first big-budget Hollywood score and one that clearly anticipates his next, and most iconic work, Batman. For this wickedly funny and inventive update of the immortal Dickens Christmas classic, Elfman fashions a robust, sophisticated musical tapestry that expertly weaves together the film's varied tones, which runs the gambit from wildly broad comedy and holiday cheer to gothic horror and emotional drama. GHOSTBUSTERS II
The Ghostbusters II soundtracks is a great blend of R&B, new jack swing, and rap. Featuring a redone version of Ray Parker, Jr.'s original theme by Run-D.M.C., as well as two cuts from Bobby Brown ("On Our Own" and "We're Back") and New Edition's "Supernatural, the film's soundtrack is like a time capsule of radio in the late '80s. Although the film didn't spawn any truly essential songs, the soundtrack makes for a nostalgic journey that fans of the film (or '80s R&B) will have fun revisiting.

| Marvin Gaye Trouble Man Soundtrack This is Marvin Gaye’s classic soundtrack to the 1972 motion picture Trouble Man starring Robert Hooks, Paul Winfield, and Ralph Waite. The album reached the top 20 on the Billboard 200, peaking at #12. The title track was released as a single in November 1972 and became a top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #7.
The song became one of Marvin's signature songs for the remainder of his life. More recently, the soundtrack was referenced positively in the 2014 film Captain America: The Winter Soldier, with Falcon (Anthony Mackie) calling it the most important thing Captain America (Chris Evans) missed during his cryogenic slumber.
"The compositions well over with equal parts tension and detached cool, moving through modes of heartbreaking struggle, searching wonder, and playful street scenes...it rises far above the wandering wah-wah guitars and dated bongos of its peers...a deep listen will show it's very much part of the same overarching genius that touched all of his work." -Fred Thomas, allmusic
