A rare first pressing of The Beatles' debut album on vinyl - Please Please Me 1963 (nearly 60 years old!)
Owned by my late father from new - record is in very good condition with only light marks and some fingerprints. You may also receive a few stray cat hairs - my apologies - those things get everywhere.
I have been handling the record with vinyl gloves to minimise contamination. I don't have a record player but it does look nicely shiny with few erroneous marks - have a good look at the photos for reassurance.
There's a crinkly outer plastic cover over the cardboard sleeve; this makes it look a bit tatty, but I'm sure if you remove that, the original sleeve is all the better for it. I just wanted to minimise the interference with the item by leaving it alone.
Matrix codes: XEX 421 - 1N (side 1) and XEX 422 - 1N (side 2)
Ernest J. Day & Co. cover
Angus McBean front cover photo / "gold" sleeve
If this was mint, the value would be in the region of £700 - 800.
Black and gold record label with Dick James Music Co. included in the credits, as well as many others (see photos).
Original inner sleeve of paper and plastic (not 100% sure of the inner's lining material).
Other codes on the record (tax codes?): "T" side 1, "GR" side 2 at 3 o'clock between the label and the innermost track.
I understand that due to the age and limited numbers of these pressings, they make a good investment, tending to rise in value.
10% of the price goes to charity.
The record will be posted in a custom mailer, maybe with some bubble wrap if I can fit it in. It scares me to put these beauties in the post, so you also have the option of coming to pick it up from Leicester if you prefer. If you chose delivery, I will send it with tracking. If it gets damaged before it reaches you, please send me some photos. Otherwise, fingers crossed and happy bidding! On 03-Jan-22 at 20:56:22 GMT, seller added the following information:
Hello again. I've ordered some strong cardboard mailers but the expected delivery date is between 8th - 12th January. This means there may be a delay in posting your LP. I'm really sorry about this and I should have ordered the packaging sooner. But it should hopefully create only a small delay. I hope you can bear with me on this. Many thanks.
