IT'S SURE BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I HAD A COPY OF THIS HISTORIC RECORD IN !! AN ORIGINAL COMMERCIAL COPY OF THE VERY FIRST RECORD THE BEATLES APPEARED ON FROM APRIL, 1962!! 'MY BONNIE/The Saints' (Decca 31382.) THIS SONG WAS A MILD HIT IN GERMANY AND ENGLAND IN 61/62, SO POLYDOR ENLISTED IT'S U.S. AFFILIATE FOR POLYDOR AT THE TIME, ' DECCA RECORDS ', TO GIVE THIS SINGLE A TRY IN THE U.S.!! IT WENT NOWHERE OF COURSE, AND THE RESULT IS ONE OF THE RAREST BEATLES 45s IN THE WORLD! ....NOT CONVINCED THE NAME ' THE BEATLES ' WAS MARKETABLE, DECCA COMPLIED WITH POLYDOR'S SUGGESTION TO CHANGE THEIR NAME TO 'THE BEAT BROTHERS' ON THE LABEL! ON THIS RECORD, THE BEATLES WERE PRIMARILY A BACKING BAND TO TONY SHERIDAN (ELVIS STYLE POPULAR ENGLESH SINGER AT THE TIME.) AGAIN, THIS RECORD TOTALLY BOMBED ON THE U.S. MARKET AND GAVE NO INDICATION OF THINGS TO COME FOR THE BOYS!... THIS IS THE COMMERCIAL ISSUE AND IS AN IMPORTANT AND VERY HISTORICAL RECORD TODAY!
