Elvis Presley
Perhaps one of the very rarest, if not the rarest Elvis promotional items!
This Extended Play double gatefold Promotional package was made
to entice retail stores into the record business.
The idea of Elvis Presley and lounge singer Jaye P. Morgan being together
was to emphasize the fact that Elvis' EP had sold 1,000 times better
than had Jaye's, that record and phonograph player sales were on the rise,
so retail stores should be aware of the increase and spend more money with RCA;
as Elvis Presley was RCA's hottest artist!
The cover is a double-gatefold pocket sleeve, with Elvis on the front and
Jaye P. Morgan on the back. Promotional info appears on the inside.
( see photos )
There are two variations concerning the contact information listed inside:
one lists "Mr. L.F. Koranda" and the other, "Mr. Walter H. Awe".
This copy lists Mr. L.F. Koranda, Associated Merchandising Corp.
1440 Broadway, New York, New York.
The questionnaire inside has been neatly filled in
showing the then-current statistics,
using a blue ball-point pen.
The records are the Black "Dog-on-Top" label,
and are the original RCA Victor records
made especially for this set.
Jaye P. Morgan is a beautiful, wonderful singer;
but the year was 1956, and
the King of Rock 'n Roll had ascended !
Cover and Records: (NM/NM) Near MINT 8 / Near MINT 8
