Jethro Tull - Aqualung DCC 24kt. Gold CD w/Slipcase Stunning Audio Near Mint!
Jethro Tull's first three albums sold quite well....but it wasn't until their fourth Lp, 'Aqualung', that the band became a superstar attraction. Initially released on Lp in the Winter of 1971, 'Aqualung' is widely considered as Tull's crowning achievement. Produced by Terry Ellis and Ian Anderson, the songs found on this album are highly melodic, beautifully arranged and sung with passion. In my opinion, it represent a high point in popular music. Today, music is so far removed from the astonishing creativity displayed on this album, that its embarrassing even to make comparisons. Like many "landmark" albums, the question of which version sounds "best" comes up quite often with this title. Many digital versions of 'Aqualung' have been released and rereleased over the last few years. However, none of them are as faithful to the 1st UK vinyl (ILPS 9145) pressing from 1971 as the version released by DCC Compact Classics in 1996/97. Having owned this coveted 1st UK vinyl pressing, I can say with complete honesty that DCC Mastering Engineer Steve Hoffman, got it right. Captured is the warmth, the immediacy, the detail, and most of all....THE ESSENCE of the original master tape. In the notes from the booklet, something important is mentioned: " Please note, this is not a remix of Aqualung. This is the first American release made from the original British 1971 two-track master mixes". In my opinion, this is the only compact disc of this legendary album to own. Condition of Slip Case, Jewel Case, 16-Page Booklet, and 24kt Gold Disc.......Near Mint. There are a few very, very faint hairlines on the surface of the disc but obviously have no bearing on the sensational audio. Played less than 5 times from new. NB. Please note, the black DCC catalog which is visible in a few of the pictures, is not included with the sale of this item. If it is desired, let me know and we can negotiate a price. I will always combine shipping to save you money. European Buyers...please contact me for shipping rates/options before paying invoice....thanks.
