This 3-CD Set offers Amazingly-tight ! Musical performances during the J.G.B. 1977 Summer Tour ( July 29 & 30, 1977 ) - at Theatre 1839 in San Francisco ! Being a 3-CD release ( while other Volumes in this Series ranged anywhere from 1 to 4 CD's ), you could definitely make the argument that this ' 1st release ' here might have possibly been the Very-Best ! release overall - of the entire " Pure Jerry Series " ( 2004-2009 ). With of course, the Warner Theatre '78 release, and also Bay Area '78 - both obviously being in this conversation. 1976 - 1978 was the true coming of age period for the Jerry Garcia Band, and many view this 1977 Tour as the true-pinnacle - or even the " Prime !
