For those of you with Technical Expertise, set out below is some further information about this truly superb Nimbus pressing.

The equipment line up used to produce this pressing was as follows.

1. Neumann mastering lathe with Dr. Hallidays special varigroove system to take up less space for a given level. Neumann 300 watt Valve cutting amplifiers with low noise front end by Dr. Halliday. 3. Studer A80 tape playback machine. 4. Passive gain control to minimise the amount of electronics in the signal path. 5. An Ortofon box which applied a variable low pass filter. This precaution was needed to protect the heads drive coils from up to 1.5 kwatts of peak energy. They were also cooled by helium gas. 6.Special vinyl was made for this pressing by ICI. This was delivered as a powder not as granules. It gave a flat frequency response so no HF boost had to be added at mastering.

Issued in 1984 in an extremely small quantity (in the region of circa 1,000 only) and available by Mail Order Only and sold exclusively to the readers of Hi-Fi Today Magazine, this very rare STEREO LP was pressed by Nimbus Records UK, and was the only Beatles album to be issued by Nimbus.

This Special Pressing LP is on the official Black & Silver Parlophone Label, with Two EMI Boxed logo’s. The Nimbus pressing comes in a plain white Made in Great Britain inner bag, which is polythene lined, and is housed in a traditional Garrod & Lofthouse Gate-fold Sleeve. On the top right hand corner of the front of the sleeve, there is an official Gold Printed Sticker which reads ‘Supercut Mastered and Pressed exclusively for readers of Hi-Fi Today by Nimbus Records’. Also included in the package is a Mint Sgt Pepper cut-out card.

Please note that the wording NIMBUS ENGLAND is machine stamped in the trail off area of the dead wax on both sides.

Both matrix’s are hand etched and read, side 1, YEX 637-A, and side 2, YEX 638-B.

Both sides of the Record Labels are in stunning Mint condition, showing no signs of play to the centre spindle holes.

The Vinyl LP is carefully graded as Mint – flawless condition, both sides are without hesitation, as new.

The Sgt Pepper Sleeve is a regular non laminated Garrod & Lofthouse Manufactured Sleeve and is in in immaculate, as new Mint condition, and still in its opened, unbroken shrink-wrap with the important Super-cut Sticker on the sleeve.

This is a beautiful as new example of the rarest SGT Pepper album, produced to the highest possible quality, and is complete as it was when released in 1984 .
