On offer here is an ultra rare progressive album by the Pink Floyd on the Columbia label.This is the earliest UK reissue U.K. catalogue number SCX 6258 This has always been a much sought after LP .because it contained the last contribution by Syd Barrett RIP.What makes this special is that there is only one EMI box on the label.Records with one box were quickly replaced with 2 boxes and sadly many records are sold on ebay for high prices claiming to be the first reissue with 2 boxes which is totally false and could be construed as misrepresentation or arguably fraudulent.I think it is rarer than the original blue black issue.For example the one box reissue of Help by the Beatles is booked at £400 and this is probably similar in rarity.

This record only sold in tiny numbers because LP's were so expensive then at £2, the equivalent now of around £40.Driving lessons for example were 50 p per hour now £25,fifty times as much.Just have a look at the photographs.See below for more detail and please read carefully.

SLEEVE

I would grade the sleeve as VG+ in my opinion,certainly VG to be ultra fussy..There is no writing or names on the sleeve.The front has some creasing on the right with some tape residue inside but nothing very significant.There is slight wear on the spine but the words pinkfloyd are clearly visible.The top and bottom edges are in EX condition and just slight wear on the right edge.There is just general wear on the rear with some rubbing below Columbia at the bottom but nothing serious.Interestingly the sleeve which came with the 2 box EMI reissues has some differences but the one box issue has the same sleeve as the blue black original so if anyone has a trashed sleeve but a mint blue black record they can upgrade.The original inner sleeve is included in VG condition but this can easily be replaced.

RECORD LABELS

These are mint.The labels are clean and bright as if purchased yesterday from a shop.There is not even any spindle wear or marks and no names on the labels.

VINYL

Both sides of the vinyl are NM.The record plays on both sides without any noticeable background noise and my Linn Sondek can be unforgiving.There are some quiet passages but no problem with this album.There is no warping or dishing.This is one of the earliest pressings on this label YAX 3633-1 and YAX 3634-1 stampers GL1 and T1.There are not even any wispy lines caused by removing the vinyl from the sleeve even under a strong light.I think this has only been played 2 or 3 times.

Overall I do not think anyone will be disappointed with this rare L P..The sleeve is not mint and please do not bid if you are looking for a mint sleeve but the album is in great nick and very hard to upgrade. In my opinion the condition of the album is more important than the sleeve because records should be played..To give everyone a chance,I have set a low start price for bidding so good luck to everyone.Please see below for postage.FREE TO U.K. BUYERS.I prefer paypal but will accept a cheque or postal order from U.K.buyers but I would need to allow time for the cheque to clear.
