Poster: David Ruffin Kool & the Gang Norfolk Arena 1969 Boxing Style Concert Poster

For four years, David Ruffin was front man and lead singer of The Temptations. But after growing displeasure of Ruffin’s enlarged ego, the band let him go. Ruffin continued to perform solo, like at this show in Norfolk, VA in November of 1969. Supporting him was a number of R&B and Soul acts, including a young Kool & the Gang, who had just released their debut self-titled album.

The oversized boxing style poster is on thick cardboard and measures 22” x 33”. The day-glow colors on this poster are absolutely eye-popping (images do not do it justice). The main image of this poster is in pristine condition, but there are a few minor issues around the borders. Just above the F in Norfolk, there is an indentation on the cardboard. The tip of the top right corner has a small tear. There is also a 1 1/4" indentation/crease along the right border, just to the right of the word Children. The bottom border has two stains, below the words Soul and Murray. And lastly, the bottom right corner would be considered soft. If this poster were framed, all blemishes would be unnoticeable.
