JOHN LENNON - IMAGINE LP. Her debut LP. This copy a 1971 US STEREO WINCHESTER PRESSING on the APPLE LABEL CAT# SW3379. This LP is widely regarded as John Lennon's finest moment as a solo artist, but it was not a Lennon solo LP. It was largely a mutual effort between John and Yoko. Yoko, of course was a great conceptual Fluxus artist, and without Yoko, Imagine the song and the LP would not have happened. First, Imagining is a Yokoism. Second, the activist in John was produced by Yoko with songs like Give Peace a Chance, Imagine, Woman is the nigger of the world, and of course John Sinclair and Attica State...etc.. She dressed them in military garb when they went to protest for peace. It was a great combination, and someday Yoko will get more credit for her art, and work with John. The front and back cover on this album are Yoko photos, as is the surreal conceptual statement on the back cover "Imagine the clouds dripping, Dig a hole in your garden to put them in. Yoko 1963". The songs are great here, and co-produced by Phil Spector. George Harrison, Nicky Hopkins, and Klaus Voorman make up a fantastic band, and the combo of the band and the producer brings to life an album that had a fuller soundscape than the sparse Plastic Ono Band LPs that came prior to this. Everything about this record is outstanding. It's an essential LP in any music library if only for the statements it makes on the time they wrote these songs. Yoko gets a few other nods on the labels. This label after John Lennon Imagine says with the Fluxus Fiddlers. And while John's image is on side 1 inside an apple, the side 2 apple label was also changed to appear as a vagina in the Apple core.
