Here's another item that I am original owner of, and never thought I'd part with it. But it's time for it to have a new home! I took this off a Los Angeles telephone pole in early 1970. It's a poster ad for an "upcoming" DOORS concert at The Long Beach Arena. Alas, I wasn't allowed to go, because it was too far away from my home and I didn't quite have my drivers license yet... Sigh....Sure wish I found a way there.
So, I've had it framed about 40 of the last 48 years! Took it out of the frame a few years ago and taped up several places along the back near the middle, because it had a brittle tear which went through the whole length of middle of poster, and separated it into 2 pieces. Today I measured it, looked it over, & took pix of it for you. I search for DOORS posters and items ALL the time on eBay, because they're still my favorite band. And I don't think I've EVER seen another of these posters! So maybe it's UNIQUE, I just don't know. Now, it has major problems, which I'll describe, but they DO look better when it's behind a glass frame. So here we go:
It measures about 13.5 by 18 inches. It HAS been trimmed around the edges from it's original dimensions. I think I trimmed the borders off it in early 1970's. Oh well... has a lot of tape on it. It's brittle now, so have to be careful with it. (I'll ship it rolled, in a shipping tube..) It has many tears on it. Was printed on a nice stock of paper, but it's just so old now, that's why it tears easily. It has creases on it, all the way from top to bottom, about every 2 inches! It has some possible water stains on it. So don't expect MINT here. Lol... And there you go. 48 years old. Frame it. Love it. Right on.... Again, this poster is WAY ratty.. (I can only hope that this poster makes the journey ok in the tube! There is no other way I can mail it, but rolled up and creased as it is... So you have to assume responsibility for the journey. Cool?).....
