Scarce historical 12-inch shellac record: WILLIAM S. HART - Recitations of the poems LASCA (Frank Depres [Desprez]) and PINTO BEN (Hart) - Victrola 9297. From what I can gather online, these poems are both pretty good examples of American cowboy/western poetry, appropriately by silent-era western film star Hart. Not sure of the date, but circa 1928.

From Wikipedia: Hart (1864-1946) was an American silent film actor, screenwriter, director and producer. He is remembered as a foremost western star of the silent era who "imbued all of his characters with honor and integrity." During the late 1910s and early 1920s, he was one of the most consistently popular movie stars.

Condition is VG+ (still has nice sheen, minor surface scuffing including a couple long-but-soft, and few scuffs and scratches that I can barely feel; some minimal label scuffs).

MORE TO COME - I've listed and will be listing many other rare 10" and 12" shellac records over the next month or two, mainly historical events, sports, personalities, politicians, speeches, military, WWI, WWII, presidential & campaign, kings & queens, etc.
A NOTE ON SHIPPING SHELLAC RECORDS: I use the floating method, with the record sandwiched between strong pieces of cardboard with corrugate in opposite directions, then placed inside a larger sturdy box with packing material all around inside to prevent any movement (either peanuts, large-bubble wrap, or crumpled paper). Sometimes if I have old 10" LP jackets I don't need, I will put your record in it before sandwiching; otherwise will be in a paper sleeve. I will also always insure these with the USPS. Due to the extra time, materials, insurance, and overall high level of stress associated with shipping these safely (YOU know!), I am asking $6.00 for Media Mail shipping ($4 is actual shipping cost). I think it is reasonable, and I get the feeling that most collectors who buy these online are happy to pay a little extra for the added assurance.
